Hello Chris Well I should understand how the bible hangs together having completed a degree in History/Theology though having done the degree in a secular University I was of course told that it did not hang together!! It was, they said separate books written throughout history with very little in the way of a unifying theme!!! Of course as a Christian I could see the logic of secular minds but having been taught well in my childhood, I understood it’s overall message played out through many scenes in scriptural history. Hi Christina — yes I agree there is a risk of “oversimplifying” when we recognise the Bible is indeed “separate books written throughout history”. But glad you agree there is a unifying story, what they call a “meta-narrative”. I certainly think there is!

Chris — this is fantastic! I think the visual with the name of the books really helps. It’s very clear and understandable! Great as a reminder for anyone with faith but also clear history for those new or exploring. It should be shown at the start of an Alpha course!
I recall how at Soul Survivor one year, we went to a one-hour talk to try to explain the bible and he was everywhere and very confusing and we zoned out very quickly!
