Do we sometimes discriminate against a person based on how they look or speak — and maybe even we are friendly and helpful to them at the same time? Sometimes I think it’s hard not to. Hmm so when does “judging correctly” become “prejudice”?
One of the great things about church is that it attracts all kinds of people – some of whom would frankly be unwelcome in many other places. This is of course good. But for example judging whether or not its OK ( ie safe) to assist a stranger is difficult especially if you happen to be say a woman alone. I would find that difficult.
Difficult — and what is “judgement” to one person will appear as prejudice to another. But certainly we should see to our own well being and safety as well.
